The Arvind Kejriwal government will provide skill training to the inmates of Tihar Jail for their upskilling and helping them better connect with the society after they are out of jail. Teachers of Delhi government schools will first conduct a study to understand the educational background and potential skills of these inmates.
On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia held a meeting with Director General Prison Sandeep Goyal, Education Secretary Ashok Kumar, Education Director Himanshu Gupta and Principal Education Advisor Shailendra Sharma regarding this project.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that at present there are about 20,000 inmates in Tihar Jail who are serving their sentences and are involved in some kind of skill based workshop in the jail itself, which is a good thing. But we need to upskill and educate the inmates of the prison, need to train them so that when they come out of jail after completing their sentence, instead of engaging in criminal activities again, use their skill training as a tool. To live a better life.
According to the Delhi government, this project is also very important about what is lacking in the present education system, due to which criminal activities are still taking place in the society.
